Almond the Squirrel
This Spring the Residents of St. Anne’s stayed busy by planting vegetables and flowers in a raised bed on the household’s porch. They enjoyed watching the items grow all summer. An added bonus was the arrival of Almond the squirrel. Nurses Aide Heide Madden noticed that Almond would climb onto the porch to dig around the garden so she started leaving almonds on the porch for the squirrel to eat. The nickname stuck and now all the Residents love seeing Almond search for the nuts.
Everyday Resident Virginia Harberth greets his cute face through the window. He loves to peer in the large dining room window to see what is going on inside St. Anne’s. The Residents’ curiosity of him is a great as his is for them. Recently, another squirrel started to tag along with Almond. She’s earned the nickname “Joy.” Almond & Joy have both become the unofficial outdoor pets of St. Anne’s household.
