Mardi Gras, aka Fat Tuesday, was once again a wonderful celebration in our Home. The morning started with beignets and coffee in the Meet n Treat and continued with a parade through the first-floor hallway.
The Residents wore beads and sometimes masks as they paraded through the halls. The Doo Wop Doctors lead the procession playing “When the Saints Go Marching In.” New this year, friends from Brother Andre’s café in Bellevue joined the celebrations and provided delicious coffee and cookies for the party.
Once settled in the auditorium, the Mardi Gras court and the King & Queen (Woody and Marie Frazier) were introduced. They royals received the key to the Home from Sister Georgia and declared “Laissez les bons temps rouler” aka “Let the good times roll!”
With the help of local college students from Carlow University, the dance floor was packed all afternoon as everyone enjoyed the music of the Doo Wop Doctors. One final party before the start of Lent.
